Bill Browder, founder and CEO of Hermitage Capital Management, was the largest foreign investor in Russia until 2005, when he was denied entry to the country after exposing widespread corruption. Since 2009, when his lawyer Sergei Magnitsky was murdered in Russian police custody, he has been leading a global campaign to expose human rights abuses endemic in Russia. Consequentially, the ‘Sergei Magnitsky Rule of Law Accountability Act’ was signed into US law in 2012, imposing visa bans and asset freezes on certain officials involved in Magnitsky’s death. Browder is currently working to have similar legislation passed across the European Union and Canada.

Faengt stark an, laesst dann zum Ende schwer nach. Absolut spannend bis 2/3, dann wird der Heiligenschein, den sich Mr. browder anschreibt, etwas drueckend. Damit sollen nicht seine Verdienste um das Gesetz geschmaelert werden, aber etwas weniger davon und mehr Hintergrundinfo wie zu Beginn waeren willkommener gewesen fuer mich.

I read Bill Browder's book within two days including the night in-between. It's an important story in times of an increasing feeling of insecurity. In a time when old forces from the 20th century in KGB-fashion reaching out to the 21st century and trying to influence democracies in other parts of the world. The book is an easy-read, and in spite of the fact that it's a real, a thrilling and in the second part a truly touching story good literature as well.

Unglaublich spannend! Man liest es und kann es nicht glauben. Ich habe keinen Zweifel, dass es sich bei dem Beschriebenen um die Wahrheit, um eine wahre Geschichte handelt. Nur liest es sich wie ein guter Thriller, eine ausgedachte Geschichte. Ein Muss für jeden Russland Investor....

Eine wahnsinnge, beängstigende und gleichzeitig aufklärende Dokumentation. Unbedingt weiter zu empfehlen für Leute die sich interessieren was wirklich in Russland passiert.
